Technical Setup (V2.2)

The SPECCHIO system consists of two parts: (a) a MySQL database on a database server and (b) a Java client application.
Direct connection with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) enables working with the spatial dimension of field samples.
Combining the power of Matlab with the spectral and metadata held by SPECCHIO: this feature allows querying and loading data directly into Matlab using SPECCHIO Java components.

Requirements (V2.2)

In order to use SPECCHIO you are required to:
(a) create a database account using the online user registration ( Create database account ),
(b) download the SPECCHIO application ZIP archive ,
(c) have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.5 or higher installed on your local machine.

Or alternatively choose to install SPECCHIO as a local system at your site. See details below.

The Online SPECCHIO Databases (V2.2)

Two instances of SPECCHIO databases have been put online on the database server:
(a) the productive database 'specchio' for the storage of data to be shared
(b) the test database 'specchio_test' to enable the evaluation of the system by interested users.

Your Personal SPECCHIO Account (V2.2)

Once you have created a database account you will be sent an email with your username and password. These will allow you to import and edit your own data in SPECCHIO and to browse and download all spectra that are available in the database.
Your user account will allow access to both the productive and the test databases.

Installing SPECCHIO as a local instance (V2.2)

It is possible to install the SPECCHIO database at your site. This provides a few advantages: (a) faster data access and (b) total access control over your data.
